Edun Beach, the nickname for the north beach of Gray Whale Cove State Beach, is an unofficial spot where nudity is common, despite it not being officially permitted at any California State parks. The clothes-free area is located to the right at the bottom of the stairs leading down to the beach. While nudity is typically confined to the north side of the line of rocks and the prominent rock wall that juts into the sand, it often extends into other areas of the north end.
The name “Edun” is a playful reversal of the word “nude,” reflecting the beach’s relaxed and naturist-friendly atmosphere.
