St. Leonards Beach, located in Takapuna on the southern end of Auckland’s North Shore, has historically been one of the most popular, albeit unofficial, nude beaches in the Auckland metro area. Despite facing media attention and challenges in recent years, nudity remains an option for naturists who follow the accepted protocol. While the beach was once a thriving spot for nude bathers, attendance has declined since the 80s and 90s, as many naturists are deterred by the presence of textile passersby. However, it still holds a place in the hearts of those who continue to visit, enjoying the natural beauty in relative privacy.
