This beautiful stretch of black sand beach on the Puna coast, just south of Pahoa, is a secluded haven and a true nude beach, popular mostly among gay men. It’s also known for the chance to swim and interact with spinner dolphins. Nudity is openly accepted here without any issues.
To reach the beach, park at the top and follow the path through the woods, down the side of the cliff. The path, made over lava rocks, is a bit steep but manageable for both descending and climbing back up. The beach is relatively small and quite popular, so space is limited, and privacy can be scarce. However, the atmosphere is relaxed, and visitors are welcoming and accepting of everyone who comes.
