Belongil Beach, located near Byron Bay, offers a serene, legally designated nude bathing area spanning about a kilometer of pristine sandy shoreline backed by dunes. Accessible via a short walk from Bayshore Drive or the beachfront car park at the end of Grays Lane in Tyagarah, it has been an official nude beach since 1998.
While nudity is common north of the parking area, visitors should note that this section lies outside the official nude zone, where nudity is not legally permitted. The beach is particularly magical at dawn, with breathtaking sunrises as it greets the first rays of sunlight at Cape Byron, the easternmost point of mainland Australia.
