Plage de la Lagune, situated a few kilometers south of Dune du Pilat (alternately spelled “Pyla”), is the largest sand dune in Europe. Stretching an impressive 2.7 kilometers and rising up to 100 meters, Dune du Pilat is a must-visit attraction. The south end of Plage de la Lagune is designated for naturism, and the southernmost part of this naturist zone is particularly popular among the gay community. To reach the nudist area, walk 300 meters south (left when facing the water). This section of the beach is specifically designated for clothing-optional use. Plage de la Lagune is a popular destination for gay men, who tend to gather further south on the beach. It also attracts a significant number of personnel from the nearby military base.
