This picturesque 5km stretch of beach is located two hours north of Auckland, just south of Waipu. While there’s a Department of Conservation campsite in the area, nudity is not permitted within the camp. However, you can go to the right side of the beach for a more relaxed experience, as it’s known for being nude-friendly. A local cruising spot called ‘The Library’ is hidden in the sand dunes, providing some privacy away from the campground (although gorse can be a bit of a challenge!).
The campground is particularly lively during New Year’s, attracting both LGBT and straight campers who come together to enjoy the party atmosphere.
