This picturesque swimming hole, located between Marysville and Grass Valley, northeast of Sacramento, is a popular spot for a diverse crowd, including gay men. While some parts of the area are designated for clothed bathers, nudity is common at the end of the Buttermilk Bend Trail, marked by a “Trail End” sign.

Although camping is not permitted, the area attracts about 30 men on weekends, making it a lively yet relaxed spot. The swimming hole is known for its natural beauty, featuring large rocks that are perfect for nude sunbathing and enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
