The largest clothing-optional beach in Austria is located on the Danube River’s shores.
Nudism is permitted at the southeastern end of Donauinsel, a long, narrow island in central Vienna, situated between the Danube River and the parallel excavated channel Neue Donau. Clothing-optional sunbathing is allowed on both sides of the Neue Donau. On summer days, the island attracts up to 190,000 visitors, including both heterosexual and homosexual individuals.
The area where individuals are permitted to remove their clothing begins at Steinspornbrücke, a bicycle and pedestrian bridge, and ends at the southeastern end of Donauinsel.
